Portuguese Natural Area Added to Global Network of Geoparks

The Geopark Naturtejo da Meseta Meridional in central Portugal was recently unanimously accepted into the Global Network of Geoparks by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as the first such park in Portugal. Naturtejo was seen as an area of important geological relevance by the worldwide organization. The Naturtejo Geopark in the Beiras/Centro de Portugal region offers the visitor a unique natural tourism experience.
