The Global Travel Group was impressed with the daily rate concept, where customers only pay for the exact amount of days they travel, the Extranet booking system, which was developed in-house, and the online claims facility, which allows customers to submit web travel insurance claims and receive an instant decision.

Mr Chong added that the automatic inclusion of terrorism insurance as part of their coverage is also a factor in the company's growth, and has done much to attract new customers to their consumer site Insuremore (http://www.insuremore.co.uk). Journeys introduced the Acts of Terrorism cover under the Cancellation, Curtailment and Medical sections of their policies because they recognised that cover of this type was becoming increasingly important in today's society. "We noticed a gap in the market in relation to terrorism insurance. Simply no providers were covering for Act's of Terrorism and both agents and consumers were crying out for us not to exclude," Mr Chong explained. "So 18 months ago we decided to include cover under our cancellation, curtailment and medical expenses sections of the policies. We were the first worldwide travel insurance providers to do so and remain the only one to this day. The results have been great and we've received some excellent feedback from our clients."

This is a culmination of recent success for Journeys Travel Insurance, having won a British Travel Award for Best Innovation for online claims and Best Travel Insurance Provider at this year's Globe Awards.
