Timeshare Company Suggests Vacation Strategy for Coping with Rising Gas Prices

Timeshare Company Suggests Vacation Strategy for Coping with Rising Gas Prices

Since the rising price of gasoline may make vacations and road trips difficult for many Americans this summer, Sell My Timeshare NOW, suggests people rethink their approach to summer travel. Rather than planning the long car trip to the beach or a national park, the timeshare resales and timeshare rental company recommends people consider vacationing near their home and spending much or all of their time at one resort, instead of destination hopping.

"It's such a simple strategy, that people overlook it," says Jason Tremblay, CEO of Sell My Timeshare NOW. A hotel may have a great pool or even a golf course, but a timeshare is more likely to be a complete resort, with activities planned for the children and amenities to please the whole family. Many timeshare resorts are so full-service, that you could have an incredible vacation and never leave the property."

How much the price of gas will matter to the average person when vacation time rolls around, and what that price will be, is anyone's guess. But the popular website GasBuddy.com, shows that 31 percent of nearly twenty thousand people polled said gas prices affected their Easter 2007 weekend travel plans either slightly, somewhat, or a lot. Statistics on the website also show that the average price of gas across the US has risen nearly 29 cents per gallon since Easter weekend.

Over four million households own one or more US timeshare, one-week intervals (or the points equivalent of a one-week interval) as of January 1, 2006, based on information gathered by the American Resort Development Association's research division, the International Foundation. While this is a small percentage of the overall population, it is a number that increases every year. As Tremblay explains, "Timeshares have proved to be a good vacation solution for many people. We don't seem to be able to do much about rising costs in this country, but at least, you can buy a timeshare or timeshare resale and lock in the price of timeshare vacation accommodations for a lifetime."

Tremblay also advises that timeshare owners considering timeshare exchange, make their exchange as far in advance as possible. While all timeshare companies advise early exchange, as Tremblay points out, "Timeshare exchange patterns may be very different this year than they typically are. Act now so that you keep vacation planning easy and then enjoy your timeshare resort vacation, knowing you didn't spend a fortune just to get there."
