Merger Creates Largest Online Ticket Network in America
Las Vegas, NV May 19, 2005 -- 800Tix.com, an online ticket brokering service, and 888Tix.com, an online travel-booking engine, have merged to create the Tix Network, the largest online travel and event ticket network. The merger expands the services of both companies and creates a unique online buying experience that offers greater entertainment and travel options.
The Tix Network has acquired more than 250 city specific domain names and will develop them over the next 18 months. Unique websites will be built for every major city in the United States. The goal is to create online communities that offer the most relevant information about local and national travel and entertainment options.
Detailed city guides, family guides, venue maps and seating charts offer the most up-to-date information to improve planning and maximize the event experience.
Each city website will have access to the 800Tix.com ticket inventory and the 888Tix.com travel reservation system.
The 800Tix.com event ticket inventory holds more than 1 million tickets worth over $100 million. Visitors to the website have access to thousands of tickets for concerts that have sold out through traditional ticket offices and can secure seats for high-demand concerts like U2, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, Celine Dion and more. Tickets for all major sporting events such as the NBA Playoffs, Major League Baseball, College and Professional Football and NASCAR are available in all price ranges.
Access to the 888Tix.com travel reservation system allows customers to choose from more than 400 airlines, 60,000 hotel properties, 41 car rental companies and 6,500 vacation packages, tour and cruise departures.
“Our goal is to create an online resource for people that want better information, more choices and competitive prices” says Adam Golob of Tix Network.
The first cities to launch are Las Vegas, Nevada (702Tix.com), Los Angeles, California (213Tix.com), Phoenix, Arizona (602Tix.com) and Columbus, Ohio (614Tix.com).
