Donate Your Travel Photos to Help Asia Tsunami Victims

January 12, 2005 -- Free travel site, TravelPictorial.com announced today they are donating $0.01 to the Red Cross in aid of Asian Tsunami victims for every travel picture visitors upload to their site.

TravelPictorial.com targets to raise $10,000.00 for Tsunami victims through one million travel photo upload.

“As we watched the scale of the disaster unfold on television, we were totally stunned by the scale of the devastation,” said Michael Low, editor for Travel Pictorial. “We decided we had to help.”

A 9.0 earthquake underneath the Indian Ocean on the Sunday morning of December 26, 2004 sent tidal waves as high as 15-feet gushing onto the coasts of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and even Somalia in Africa. An estimated 150,000 people lost their lives.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan called this disaster “an unprecedented, global catastrophe” requiring “an unprecedented, global response.”

“Through this unique fund raising campaign, we hope to raise funds for the victims and create greater global awareness of this disaster – especially among young, trendy Internet surfers,” said Low.

“Every cent donated comes from the pockets of Travel Pictorial staff, friends and sponsors. We don’t collect any money from visitors. Our aim is to generate awareness and encourage visitors to participate in their local fund raising efforts.”

To help, visit Travel Pictorial’s web site at
http://www.travelpictorial.com. Every travel picture you upload will raise $0.01 for the Red Cross in aid of Tsunami victims.

“You can also help by spreading the word about this campaign to friends, family and co-workers,” Low added.
