Thailand's celebration of the elephant.

In the coulourful and glamourous lure of holiday travel, it is good to know that one tour operator offers no nonsense fully inclusive private tours.

Private tours means your own driver and guide - no more swapping coach seats, waiting for a cubicle at the toilet stop or getting stuck up the back where you cannot hear a word the guide is yelling.

The special 6 day 'Discover Isan' tour spends the first night near Thailand's first National Park- Khao Yai. The parks has over 50 km of walking tracks through tropical forest where you may see black bear, mongoose, tiger, gibbon, elephant or slow loris.

On the way to Surin, visit the spectacular reconstructed historical parks of Phimai and Phanom Rung. Phimai features the largest collection of classical Khmer buildings in Thailand. The beautiful Phanom Rung temple stands on an extinct volcano. It was built around the same time as the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The impressive complex holds an extraordinary collection of Khmer art.

Arrive Surin to witness the Elephant Round Up at the local showground. Introduced in 1960, the festival is an internationally famous event where over 100 elephants participate in spectacular processions, demonstrations and amazing feats of strength. This is the best time to visit Surin as the sleepy town takes on a carnival atmosphere.

Finish your exciting journey with a visit to the magnificent Phra Viharn Temple across the border in Cambodia. Spend the last night in the peaceful city of Ubon Ratchathani where you may enjoy a massage and sumptuous exotic Isan food.

Return to Bangkok with Thai airlines.
Accommodation is limited in Surin, please book early.
Tour departs Bangkok 17 November 2004
Tour cost USD1290 per person twin share room
All inclusive package, discount hotel accommodation Bangkok and Mekong River resort extension available.
