When someone books a hotel room through the site, WeGiveYouGo.com will give 50% of its booking commission to Oxfam.
WeGiveYouGo.com is currently talking to other leading charities about inclusion on the site. “We plan to have three other charities on by the end of April. The user will then be able to select which charity they would like us to donate the money to”, says Andrew Clarke of WeGiveYouGo.com.
Claire Starkey of Oxfam’s Corporate Partnerships Team, says “we are delighted that WeGiveYouGo.com will be raising money for Oxfam each time a booking is made on the site. Every donation can make a difference – just £15 could provide a farmer in Tanzania with skills to improve their land and dramatically improve the amount of food they can harvest.”
There are 3,500 hotels to choose from in the UK, Europe and beyond and the room prices are as good as you will find on the net. The only difference is that WeGiveYouGo.com will donate half of the booking commission to charity. The user won’t pay anything extra and the hotel won’t see its revenue reduced either.
The people behind WeGiveYouGo.com, cousins Bob Harrison and Andrew Clarke, also run WeddingVenues.com and WeddingAccommodation.com. “We are starting to make a living from our other web sites, so thought it was time we launched something that would help others too”, says Andrew Clarke.
