The New Hampshire Highland Games make for a great family outing, with plenty to do for all ages at affordable prices. There are numerous lodging and dining options nearby, as this year we will be hosting the Games at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds near the capital city of Concord.

The 28th Annual New Hampshire Highland Games—the oldest and largest Scottish Music Festival in the Northeast —will take place at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire, September 19 – 21, 2003. This three-day event features the pageantry of the
Gathering of the Clans and Massed Bands, Celtic concerts, the New England Regional Scottish Fiddle Championship, heavyweight Scottish athletics, sheep dog trials, the National Highland Dance Competition, and other musical performances and competitions.

Among the headline performers from Scotland, Canada, and the U.S., are Brigadoons, Old Blind Dogs, Seven Nations, Hadrian’s Wall, Clann An Drumma, Charlie Zahm, Alex Beaton, Alasdair Frasier, and the world-famous Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Pipe Band. Workshops and seminars are offered in Scottish history, whisky tasting, Cape Breton music and dance, and Scottish Country Dance. Children under 12 are free, and on Saturday and Sunday, a youth program is available at the Heritage Center. Ticketed evening performances take place in nearby Concord, New Hampshire and at the fairgrounds.

The New Hampshire Highland Games are being held for the first time at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. The new venue offers larger facilities, plenty of adjacent parking and easy accessibility at Exit 7 off I-89, just over one hour from downtown Boston.

A weekend pass for admission to daytime fairground events Friday through Sunday is available for only $25 if purchased by August 1, 2003. Advance tickets are available by calling 1-800-358-7268 or online at
www.nhscot.org.
