Embellished Rooms and Suites Unveiled at Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort

Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort (Bali, Indonesia) has completed Phase I of a dramatic room embellishment, bringing on line 250 completely renovated Superior Rooms and split level Junior Suites. Work continues on renovations to Executive Suites, Garden Villas and a new category of Family Rooms, due for completion in March 2004.

Nusa Dua, Bali, November 04, 2003—Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort has completed Phase I of a dramatic room embellishment, bringing on line 250 completely renovated Superior Rooms and split level Junior Suites. Work continues on renovations to Executive Suites, Garden Villas and a new category of Family Rooms, due for completion in March 2004. Designs are carried out by Lina Wiyanti, PT Suryalaya Anindita International, Jakarta.

A complete redesign within the existing floor plan sees dramatic changes to the overall ambience. Eliminating furnishings expands the marble entry foyer. Warm and richly polished, built-in teakwood furnishings replace a range of free-standing cabinets and rattan seating, resulting in more spacious and contemporary atmosphere.

Soft furnishing fabrics and textile accents are in jewel tones, which vary: Emerald, Opal and Sapphire for pool view rooms; Garnet, Topaz and Amber for garden view rooms. Simple décor, mirrored throughout the room, includes cast ceramic sculptures in teak frames, handmade paper relief prints and simple bust statues.

Teak columns now flank the elegant, slatted wooden headboard, creating an illusion of posts bracing a decorative teakwood frieze. The platform bed is draped with a snowy white
duvet and throw pillows match a richly woven runner, which conveniently
hangs on the wall at night.

Bedside tables remain uncluttered, with powerful wrought iron reading lamps swinging from the side for directional lighting.

A teakwood entertainment center encases the satellite television, mini-bar and coffee/tea making facilities. A desk, equipped with a new hairdryer, has a large mirror with enough freestanding and recessed lighting to double as a vanity. Comfortable seating space for relaxation is furnished with a woven sea grass lounge chair and a reading lamp, with a cocktail table. Parquet flooring is refinished to compliment the furnishings.

Sliding patio screens are replaced with glass, with suede cloth blackout curtains and delicate sheers. The spacious patio is fitted with a day bed for massage or relaxation, along with woven sea grass lounges and a cocktail table, perfect for in-room breakfast or sundown cocktails.

The bathroom takes on a whole new feel, not only from new toilet and bathtubs, but from significant renovation. Corner walls, facing onto the bedroom, are replaced with frosted glass, wrapped in decorative, three-dimensional slats. This brightens and gives an expanded feel to the marble bathroom. Additional teak storage shelves are added under a dual marble vanity.

Junior Suite

A new level of elegance comes with the Junior Suite redesign, bringing a residential style ambience. The marble foyer now flows into the lower-level living area, accented by drop lighting. The living area itself feels expanded by the addition of a wide, floor-length mirror, with a cozier feeling imbued to the lounge with comfortable, plush furnishings Dining and living areas are rearranged, lending more intimacy to the lounge. Addition of a new 29-inch television entertainment system creates two separate relaxation spaces, as a television also is featured in the bedroom. A glass-top, teak pedestal table replaces the rattan dinette. Slat-backed, teak armchairs with plush cushions provide comfortable seating for dining. Swag lamps are replaced with contemporary, Japanese-influenced lighting in glass, steel and handmade paper.

Soft furnishing fabrics and textile accents are in earthy tones, which vary: Sand, Coral and Sea Foam for pool view rooms; Sunset, Moss and Coral for garden view rooms. Simple décor, mirrored throughout the room, includes cast ceramic designs in teak frames and
handmade paper relief prints.

Soft roman blinds dress patio doors, with deep set teak sashes and sheer drapes. The spacious patio is fitted with a day bed for massage or relaxation, along with woven sea grass lounges and a cocktail table, perfect for in-room breakfast or sundown cocktails. Stairway and loft embellishment includes addition of slatted railings with directional down lighting. Slip-stop trim improves staircase safety. Upstairs, the teakwood loft bedroom has been renovated in new cabinetry with overhead storage.

Instead of posts or canopies, the bed features a baldaquin treatment overhead and swirls of white tulle draped like bunting. The platform bed with an elegant, slatted woodenhead board, is draped with a snowy white duvet and throw pillows match a richly woven runner, which conveniently hangs on the wall at night. Bedside tables remain uncluttered, with drop light reading.

The marble bathroom actually is expanded with selected walls and counters removed, and new chocolate marble counter tops added. Frosted glass panel doors brighten the chamber. New bathtubs and toilets are accented with wooden shower curtain fittings.
