Select B&B’s in Lancaster County will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. The “Bring Your Tins to our Inns” campaign will be held December 2002 thru March 2003.
The Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers invite guests to donate at least 3 non-perishable items, for the food bank, during a two-night stay between December and March. In exchange for these non-perishable items, the Innkeepers will provide a 10% discount on the two-night stay. This special is for new reservations only and guests should mention this special at time of reservation. This special is subject to availability and may exclude certain holidays and weekends, suites and cottages. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank distributes approximately 1 million pounds of food and grocery products per month, which is equivalent to approximately 750,00 meals, to more than 300 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. These charitable food programs directly provide groceries and hot meals to less fortunate families. Of those people served by these feeding programs, nearly 43 percent are children under the age of 18 years. The most needed items include canned meat, fish, nuts, fruits, and vegetables, pasta, cereal, baking mixes, condiments, powdered milk, cleaning products, paper products, personal care items, and baby products.
