Lisa Light, owner of Destination Bride in Chatham, NY, recently presented “Public Relations with the Media” at the Association for Wedding Planners International (AFWPI) World Conference in October.
In her presentation, Light spoke about the essential public and media relations tactics that will help bridal planners expand their marketing capabilities, inexpensively and effectively. She demonstrated through specific examples how to develop a useful news release and media alert, as well as establishing good working relationships with journalists. She also discussed the importance of writing a marketing plan and creating a sharp image.
Light, also known as “The Wedding Anthropologist” due to her background in anthropology, and her passion for weddings around the world, has become an authority on destination, inter-faith and multi-cultural weddings. She has been quoted and mentioned in several publications, including Modern Bride and Hudson Valley Magazine, and has also done extensive TV and radio interviews on the topics of weddings and events planning.
